It does a lot of flashy FX & doodly stuff like shapes, so if you're into putting flowers & hearts & stars all over your photos, Pixelmator is for you. However, it has had stability problems in the past & won't run on anything but Mavericks, which is still a problematic OS that your favorite software may no longer run on.If you want something more advanced & reliable, there's Acorn, which is just as easy to use but geared more to serious imaging. It is a great start to finish app and whatever features it might be missing? I don't think they existed in 2004 when I last did any real learning on Photoshop tools and I am not missing. And just like there were incredible images produced in 2004, Pixelmator can do the same thing today.Please Google. Please Please Please.I am a long-time - about 22 years - Adobe Photoshop user who, like many PS users, refuses to bow to Adobe's greedy annual subscription model. As a result, I have stuck with Adobe CS6 ever since the subscription model began.Yet, at the same time, I realize that the day will eventually arrive when, due to Apple upgrades, Adobe CS6 will no longer function fully and properly with Mac OS X. Thus, I anticipate that when that day arrives, I will be forced to switch to another non-Adobe product. I tried out Acorn (which I really did like and they are worth a look) but for reasons lost to memory I ended up going with Pixelmatr as my primary editing app. It reminds me a lot of Photoshop in it's feature set.but it just feels "friendly".
